OVERVIEW

During my internship with Squarespace's communications team in 2016, I supported the launch and promotion of several major brand campaign initiatives during a landmark year for the company. My role involved identifying media opportunities, crafting pitches to technology journalists and publications, and developing targeted outreach strategies to highlight how Squarespace's platform empowered creators across diverse communities. I tracked press coverage across all major campaigns, providing the communications team with metrics on media placements and reach to measure the success of our external messaging efforts.

One of my key contributions was developing and pitching original story placements that showcased AAPI creatives leveraging Squarespace to build their businesses and share their work: I identified and pitched stories featuring artists like illustrator Jennet Liaw and entrepreneurs such as Angelia Trinidad the founder of Passion Planner, positioning their success as examples of how Squarespace enabled underrepresented creators to reach audiences and grow their ventures.

These targeted pitches resulted in placements in major publications including Variety and Fast Company, significantly expanding the reach of our creator-focused messaging. Additionally, I managed all press updates and content within the in-house CMS, ensuring consistent brand messaging across our newsroom and supporting the content marketing team's broader editorial calendar. These efforts helped diversify Squarespace's narrative beyond product announcements and demonstrated the platform's real-world impact on creators from different backgrounds.

Through consistent media outreach and strategic story development, I helped amplify Squarespace's brand message during a transformative year that included product innovations, high-profile campaigns, and corporate milestones. By tracking coverage and identifying emerging opportunities for creator-focused narratives, I contributed to a communications strategy that positioned Squarespace not just as a technology platform, but as an enabler of creative ambition across diverse communities.
